Home Care Nursing Certification Program

Home Care Nursing Certification Program
Home care nurses are healthcare professionals who assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the necessary services for patients in acute, chronic, and terminal stages, as well as their families, in the patients’ living environments. In this context, they are expected to be case managers with professional autonomy, effective communication skills, the ability to make accurate and timely decisions, and essential and organizational competencies.
Home care nurses work not only with patients but also with their families. In addition to their professional competencies, they must possess strong communication skills and be able to work with people from diverse cultures and lifestyles.
Home care nursing certification programs are comprehensive training programs that provide home care nurses with all the knowledge and skills needed in home patient care. These programs typically last for about 160 hours. They include theoretical and practical applications and are conducted under the supervision of qualified healthcare professionals.
To apply for the home care nursing certification program, candidates must be at least a graduate nurse, health officer, or midwife.
The certification program covers basic care, nutrition, patient safety, infection control, basic life support, and monitoring elderly individuals at home. Students who complete the program become qualified to serve as certified home care nurses.
The total 160-hour certification program includes 52 hours of theoretical education, 28 hours of laboratory practice, 16 hours of field home visits, and 64 hours of intensive care field practice. Nurses who successfully complete the exams will be awarded the “Home Care Nursing Certification.”
Purpose of the Home Care Nursing Certification Program

Evaluation of the Training
The evaluation of the training will be carried out according to the following procedures and principles:
Participant success will be assessed through theoretical exams and practical exams. Participants who do not meet the attendance requirements will not be allowed to take the exams.
Theoretical exam questions at the end of the theoretical training will be prepared in a multiple-choice format by an exam committee consisting of at least three instructors, chaired by the training coordinator, and covering all topics in the training content.
Participants who score 70 (seventy) or above out of 100 in the theoretical exam will be considered successful. Participants who fail the theoretical exam will be given one additional exam opportunity, to be held within one week after the exam. Participants who fail this second exam must reapply for the Home Healthcare Nursing Certification Program.
Practical exams will be conducted using the Home Healthcare Services Nursing Certification Program Practical Assessment Form (APPENDIX-2) and the Home Healthcare Services Nursing Certification Program Basic Intensive Care Practices Form (APPENDIX-3). Each form will be assessed separately, and each topic within the forms will be rated as: Highly Sufficient (4), Sufficient (3), Partially Sufficient (2), Insufficient (1), or “Not Evaluated” (0). The scores from each topic will be totaled, and this total will be divided by the number of evaluated topics to find the average score. This average score will then be multiplied by 25 and calculated out of 100. The average score from both forms will be taken, and participants who score 70 (seventy) or above out of 100 in the practical exam will be considered successful.
Participants must complete at least 5 (five) home visits, with at least 3 (three) of them being managed by the participant.
To be considered successful, participants must score at least 70 (seventy) out of 100 in both the theoretical exam and the practical exam.
Participants who dispute the assessment results of the theoretical exam and practical assessment at the end of the Home Healthcare Nursing Certification Program will have their objections reviewed and resolved by the certified training instructors within a maximum of 5 (five) business days.
Certificates will be issued to successful participants, and the certificates will be registered by the Ministry of Health.
Note: Accommodation, transportation to the training center, and meal expenses will be covered by the participants.
